In New York State’s Mid-Hudson River Valley, Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corporation (Central Hudson) knew they needed to take action to address aging infrastructure—transmission lines that were constructed in 1928 were reaching the end of their life and needed to be rebuilt. Rebuilding the 23.6-mile electric transmission lines, named ‘H’ and ‘SB’, will be a significant investment in the electric infrastructure serving Ulster and Greene counties to enhance service reliability and better meet the energy needs of these local communities.
VHB performed environmental reviews and identified significant natural and historical features to preserve along the route. We also supported Central Hudson by providing rare, threatened, & endangered species surveys, stormwater design and engineering, wetland delineation, and wetlands permitting. Construction is anticipated to begin in 2022 without service disruption to customers.
