The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey recently broke ground on the $2.4 billion modernization of Terminal A at Newark Liberty International Airport. VHB previously provided traffic engineering and transportation planning services to the Port Authority for conceptual planning and design of the terminal expansion and modernization program. We managed an extensive traffic data collection program and conducted a capacity analysis of existing conditions for key intersections, terminal frontages, pedestrian crossings, weaving sections and ramps, roadway segments, parking lot entrances, and toll plazas. VHB also created a complex, customized model to perform simulation of terminal frontages. Renderings of the modernization program can be found here.
