CC2DCA Intermodal Connector Feasibility Study

Arlington County, VA

The Crystal City BID’s vision for the intermodal connector was to directly link Crystal City with Ronald Reagan National Airport via a context-sensitive pedestrian connection that enhances economic development opportunities, links thousands of residents and visitors to a growing regional rail network, and creates placemaking opportunities. To understand the opportunities surrounding the connection, the VHB team engaged stakeholders and the public; analyzed constructability considerations; and developed a vision and action plan to propel the project forward. Following completion of the feasibility study in 2018, Arlington County incorporated the project into their Capital Improvement Plan and Amazon selected Crystal City as its HQ2 location identifying CC2DCA as a key priority investment.

The feasibility study has received awards from APA’s National Capital Area Chapter, ASLA’s Potomac Chapter, and the International Downtown Association.
