Massachusetts Port Authority On-Call Transportation Planning

East Boston, MA

VHB partnered with the Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) on a range of projects to enhance and modernize Boston-Logan International Airport. We helped Logan Airport engage employees, tenants, and contractors on the concept of sustainability with development of the Guidelines for Sustainable Airport Construction. This communication expanded awareness among stakeholders, enabling Logan Airport to leverage existing structures in their development, monitoring, measurement, and improvement of sustainability programs.

These sustainability guidelines also served as a basis for the redevelopment of Delta Airlines Terminal A, where VHB provided permitting services that helped the terminal become the world’s first airport facility to achieve Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) certification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).

VHB also made modernization recommendations for Terminal E to efficiently accommodate current and projected international operations and passengers. This project includes approximately 94,000‑square-feet of new construction and 121,000-square-feet of renovated space—including an enhanced concourse, upgraded concessions, and airfield modifications to meet required FAA safety and design standards.
